Cultural Expressions:

Calling someone ‘little (name)’ is an expression of endearment to an inferior, such as a friend, younger sibling, or just someone that is liked by the speaker, such as a boss to a subordinate.

Ge – ‘older brother’, also a way of expressing kinship and superiority.

Jie – ‘older sister’, also a way of expressing kinship and superiority.

Cultivation:

There are ranks within each realm of elites. The key to expanding power is by acquiring a Mental State through meditating and training. Some realms may be broken into through forbidden medicine.

Ultra Elites – currently the highest level of cultivation known; have cleared not only their meridians but also their Acupoints. Have a coat of protective True Qi on their bodies.

1st-Tier Elites – a realm of elites; have cleared all the meridians of their bodies.

2nd-Tier Elites – a realm of elites inferior to 1st-tier;

3rd-Tier Elites – a realm of elites inferior to all others; they have only cleared the rudimentary parts of their meridians. Possess superhuman strength that would stun ordinary people. Requires extremely harsh training to reach.

Characters:

Main Cast:

Xu Yun – name means ‘cloud’. A former special forces operative and powerful elite, who has gone wandering to convalesce his mysterious past.

Ruan QingShuang – name means ‘pure frost’. A run-away from a forced marriage, and has bad relations with her family.

Feng GuoGuo – name means ‘fruit’. A young genius who gets adopted by Ruan QingShuang.

Qiu Yan – name means ‘beauty’. Wields the Long Ruan Blade, a flexible jian sword (also known as the Chinese straight sword or double edged sword, think Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon’s sword), which translates into the Dragon Abyssal Blade.

Qin Wan’er – name means ‘graceful’.

Supporting Cast:

QiangZi – name means ‘strong one’. Xu Yun’s lackey, and leads a small group of thugs.

Xiao Fei – name means ‘flight’, I guess it can be poetically translated as ‘soaring’. QiangZi’s lackey.

Liu GuangMing – the Superintendent of WenHui District and Qin Wan’er’s direct superior.

Chen Wei – the chief of the police bureau in HeDong City.

Little Wu – name means ‘five’, and is the ass-kisser in HeDong’s police station.

South City Tiger Trio (SCTT) – consists of Kong Zhong, Shan HongNing, Lu Feng

Kong Zhong – smoother and subtler of the SCTT, owns a sandpit that uses a dredging ship on the river to mine silt, and often smiles.

Shan HongNing – gruff tough guy of the SCTT, owns Hong Kong/Macau style hotpot restaurants.

Lu Feng – gruffest of the SCTT, owns construction businesses

Other Cast:

Su YanQing – female leader of the Might Heroes Triad. Has gone into hiding since the fall of Fan NanJie.

Qi YiShan – ‘nephew’ of Jin Biao, corrupt Superintendent of police in Steep Mountain District.

Liu HuaZi – cold hearted gangster under Jin Biao.

Zhao San – trigger-happy lieutenant under Jin Biao.

Xia Lei – northeast in origin, gang leader under Jin Biao.

Deputy Superintendent Ma – Qin Wan’er’s superior at WenHui District.

Wang Yi – Lieutenant General of Dragon Fury, a widely renowned and powerful Ultra Elite, and Xu Yun’s master, addressed as ‘honored master’.

Lu Bao – brother of the man Ruan QingShuang was scheduled for an arranged marriage with; compulsive gambler.

Yin Long -a codename for Xu Yun’s former friend who is deceased.

Feng GuoMing – also known as Millenium Feng, the godfather of Suzhou’s Underworld. Has gone missing after a severe defeat by Blue Ghost. Qiu Yan was his top expert.

Leopard – the first antagonistic elite to appear. 2nd-tier and serves Blue Ghost. Associated with Wang ShunXi.

Hyena – also known as Zuo Leng, a 2nd-tier elite who is hiding with Jin Biao. Tall and thin and incorporates biting in his fighting style.

Qin Hu – Underworld faction under Blue Ghost. Moniker is “Devil Beast”, uses a tiger style.

Gong You – Underworld faction under Blue Ghost. Moniker is “Goshawk”, uses a custom-developed Mantis style.

Fan Shuang’er – a 1st-tier elite with Dragon Fury, as well as a rookie. Uses Bagua Swimming Dragon, and is also referenced as ‘Ponytail’.

Qian Feng – name meaning ‘wind’. A 1st-tier elite with Dragon Fury, uses the King of Short Weapons, Autumn Waters and his signature move is the Hell-Thrust. A 5th-rank elite.

Liu TianYi – name meaning ‘heavenly wings’. The son of Liu Sheng. Playboy and sex addict who works at HeDong’s Bilingual International School.

Liu Sheng – the true boss of HeDong, whom all the godfathers fear. Owns HeDong Grand International Hotel.

Crimson Scorpion – the top elite under Blue Ghost. Uses Scorpion Tail Needles which contain lethal toxins. A 1st-tier elite.

Jin Biao – godfather of the East. Has an extremely notorious reputation for violence and force in HeDong.

Jin WenWu – name meaning ‘literary and martial’, that is to say he’s good at being a warrior as well as scholar. Son of Jin Biao and Weng Qing, dressed as a Visual Kei rocker. Is a 3rd-tier elite, and disciple of Hyena.

Weng Qing – wife of Jin Biao, mother of Jin WenWu. Comes from a gangster family.

ShanZi – also known as Liang Shan. His gangster name means “mountain’. Sat in prison for years. Sister worked at Fan NanJie’s bathhouse.

Pang Gang – Xiao Fei’s uncle. Works in construction and lives in the shantytown at the edge of town.

Xu WenYa – the nurse that has a crush on Xu Yun.

Lu WenYi – Lu Feng’s cousin who works at the panacea restaurant as a waitress.

Su XiaoRan – GuoGuo’s teacher at HeDong Bilingual International School. Also childhood friend of Qin Wan’er.

Wang ShunXi – one of the tyrants of WenHui, owns many legitimate businesses including a Tibetan Mastiff kennel, and leads the Four Wolves Gang.

Fan NanJie – a boss of the Blade Axe Crew, based in HongNan District. Also owns the Tropical Rainforest Bath Center.

Wei WeiMing – relative of Fan NanJie and serves as his underling. Big guy and untalented.

Shan JiaHao – younger brother of Shan HongNing, flippant little punk who now works at the panacea restaurant.

Er Hei, San Pao-ge, Wei the 4th, Wei Que, Wang TianGuang – all associated with Wang ShunXi.

Blue Ghost – ultra elite and a power in Suzhou’s Underworld. Wields the 7-Absolute Palm.

Locations:

WenHui District – home base of the characters.

Suzhou – a city a ways away from HeDong. One of the big metropolis of China.

Hangzhou – a city not far from Suzhou and is also a big metropolis of China.

Panacea Restaurant – located in WenHui District, in Yi River Plaza

HeDong’s Southside – includes WenHui District and HongNan District.

HeDong’s Northside – ruled by the godfather Ma PingHai. Consists of North Shoulder, Converging Spring and North Corner Districts.

HeDong’s Eastside – ruled by the godfather Jin Biao, includes Steep Mountain District and Calm Pavilion District

HeDong’s Westside – ruled by the godfather Wu Lei,

Tibetan Mastiff Kennel Base – where Wang ShunXi’s base is.

BoWen Street – where the Sky Wolf Casino is, as well as the red light district.

Tropical Rainforest Bath Center – where Fan NanJie’s brothel is.

Central District – where the Bright Pharmacy is.

Yu Peng Neighborhood – where Su XiaoRan currently lives.

JiNan City – where Su XiaoRan and Qin Wan’er grew up, within HeDong.

Items:

Dragon Abyssal Blade – the sword wielded by Qiu Yan. It is flexible and extremely sharp, and it’s fame identifies Qiu Yan to strangers.

Autumn Waters – the King of Cold Weapons, wielded by Qian Feng.

9 Treasures Revival Pill – also called 9 Revolutions Revival Pill, Xu Yun calls it Powerful Pill. Is extremely valuable medicine but Xu Yun thinks nothing of it.

Red chips – tracking chips used by Blue Ghost

10,000 Poisons Ointment – ointment that can cure 10,000 poisons.

Yin-Yang Pill – forbidden medicine that can forcibly break the user into the next realm; comes at extreme cost and an inferior breakthrough.

Qi-Gathering Pill – Xu Yun’s own invention. Gathers Qi.
